Equipping and Convening Urban Christian Leaders for an Urbanizing World.

The tribe of Issachar “understood the times and knew what God’s people should do.”
(1 Chronicles 12:32)
Urban Christian Leaders that desire to be rooted in Christ, professional in their calling, healthy in relationships, and relentless in justice and reconciliation.

Urban Christian Leaders to move from isolation into a transformational network that sees, hears, and encourages them to continue the work God has called them to do.

An Urban World Needs Urban Christian Leaders.

An Urban Christian Leader is courageous, resilient, collective, and rooted in Christ. She knows she is undeniably necessary and eager to create. He is bold, present, and vulnerable. We passionately pursue God’s call to build multiethnic, transformative communities where all people can flourish.

2030

Today, 55% of the world’s population lives in urban areas, projected to grow to 68% by 2050. We are moving closer together, not further apart.

A Divided World Needs
Audacious Peacemakers.

A Busy World Needs Sacred Space.

It’s a time to rebuild, it’s a time to restore, it’s a time to reestablish. “I am calling you up!”, says the Lord, “I’m calling you up…”. For generations, many urban Christian Leaders have felt undervalued, under-resourced, isolated, and discouraged, on the edge of burnout. Oftentimes, urban Christian leaders are asked to value other stories more than their own, resulting in constant turnover and personal hardship. The iSSACHAR Center for Urban Leadership curates space that values health, sustainability, and self-awareness. We center you by creating catalytic experiences that offer spiritual, physical, emotional, and financial rejuvenation.

Professional in Calling:

We steward our “toolbelt”: our unique gifts, dreams, wounds, skills, experiences, and networks.
We join God’s redemptive work in the world as we become appropriately-compensated artists and professionals with increasing skill and capacity to serve others.
Learn More

Healthy in Relationships:

We develop sustainability, trust, and health in our personal and professional lives.
We find our hope in God, not in our work or relationships, and this allows us to work through trauma, challenges, culture, and conflicts to connect meaningfully with others.
Learn More

Rooted in Christ:

We submit to the Spirit and scripture such that “Jesus is Lord” shapes all aspects of our lives.

We find our primary identity in Christ and integrate that reality into our work, culture, and relationships to become spiritual elders actively investing in our communities.

Relentless in Justice and Reconciliation:

We thrive as leaders courageously pursuing justice and sacrificing our own comfort to confront systemic evil.
We acknowledge the image of God in all people as we become prophets and peace-makers standing for restoration in our communities.

Collective in Approach:

We rely on diverse friendships and defer to diverse leaders to gain gifts of proximity and perspective.
We submit to one another as co-members of the body of Christ, knowing ourselves to be both wholly inadequate and undeniably necessary to our collective work.
