Issachar | Programs

The Issachar Community equips people from all walks of life for servant leadership in an urbanizing world. We accomplish that purpose by: 1) developing leaders from lower-income, higher-risk communities; and 2) inviting people to transformational experiences among the poor.

Service Journeys

Inter-cultural, inter-generational, inter-denominational teams spend 10 months in preparation for journeys to serve and learn among the poor in Romania, Kenya, Honduras and Guatemala.

Street Psalms

Through our partnership with the Center for Transforming Mission, the Issachar Community hosts several extended conversations each year, open to the public, about topics that blend theological reflection, urban studies, and spiritual practices.

Others

Issachar regularly hosts small groups of guests on walking tours of urban neighborhoods, learning to see the community “from below,” through the eyes of our poorest neighbors. Occassional community forums, open to the public, address a variety of issues and opportunities facing people in the neighborhoods we serve.
